That’s why they were so excited to discover Electric, an independently owned California-based company that specializes in sunglasses—but not just any sunglasses. Electric’s line is designed to work for every aspect of your lifestyle, from morning run to your post-barre3 matcha-latte stop to the patio party you bought that great dress for.
“For a long time, performance sunglasses all looked the same—and it wasn’t a great look,” explains Abbie Crane, co-owner at Electric. “You’d wear your sports sunglasses for your activities and then throw them in your bag and switch over to your more stylish sunglasses the minute you were done.” Crane looked at her team for inspiration. “All the women who work here are involved in something active, so they need performance sunglasses, but they don’t want to sacrifice style. We designed for them—for us.”
Partnering with factories in Italy that have been making sunglasses by hand for generations, Electric designed styles that give active women what they want. They’re lightweight, slip-free, and have lenses infused with a special feature called melanin, which blocks 98% of HEV blue light, giving your eyes and the skin around them extra protection from the sun. But unlike so many performance sunglasses, Electric’s line look so stylish you’d assume they were from this year’s line by your favorite high-end designer.
“When I think of barre3, I think about what you’re offering,” says Crane. “With your workout, with every product in your shop, you consider the whole woman, not just one aspect of her. That’s what we’re doing with Electric.”
