Want to transform your health? Find your “why”
Have you ever wondered why it’s so easy to jump on board with a fitness program—but much harder to stick to it long-term?
Part of the problem is that many fitness programs are so extreme that it’s virtually impossible to sustain them indefinitely. (A lifelong juice cleanse? No, thanks.) But when a program is truly healthy and sustainable, like B3 All In, how can we commit to it as a lifestyle, not just a crash course? The answer is simple: Find your “why.”
What is a “why”?
By “why” I don’t mean losing weight, toning muscles, and gaining energy. It’s safe to say, most of us want these things! The “why” I’m talking about gets deeper. Why do I want to lose weight? Why do I care that my body is toned? Why do I want to bounce back from having a baby? Why is it important for me to feel amazing in my swimsuit? Why do I want to be less stressed out? Why do I want to live longer?
Figuring out your “why” is personal, and—because it evolves—it requires being present and honest in the moment. In recent years my “why” has evolved to be about being a strong and positive role model for my children. I want them to witness me growing older with energy, enthusiasm, and confidence. I want them to see that it is possible to rock your A-game at all stages in life. When I am my healthiest self—when my mind is centered and my body is worked—I perform better in life. I can’t control the constant negative messaging in the media about fitness and its ties to an unrealistic ideals of beauty. What I can control is how I define healthy and how I define beauty. It starts with me feeling good in my own skin. So for me right now, that’s my big “why”: to feel good—REALLY good—in my own skin at 44.
The power of finding your “why”
Simply put, taking time to discover the “why” behind our fitness goals is when we get clear about what we value the most—and when we tie fitness to our values, we have greater purpose and also better results.
When I’m connected to my “why,” healthy living becomes a natural part of my life, not a chore—and the benefits are so much more rewarding. The same is true for my B3 clients who have connected with their “why.” Sure they LOVE that the weight comes off and their bodies are toned, but those become secondary to the deeper benefits: being present with loved ones, rocking an audition, overcoming chronic pain, and in general performing at a higher level.
So…how do you find your “why”
Step one: Focus on you. The main barrier to finding your “why” is being attached to an ideal that’s outside of who you really are. We are bombarded with images of what being healthy and fit looks like. Let all that go. One way to bring it back to you is to finish this sentence: When I am my most authentic and healthiest self, I……..(insert your “why”)….
Step two: Join me for B3 All In. We have an exercise in the Handbook that will help you find your “why.” It’s the first and most important step to rocking your A-Game with us in January!
I am so excited for you to find your “why.” Not only will it help you commit to a healthy lifestyle, but it will also help you center your mind and perform better in everything you do. It’s truly transformative!
