From barre3 Client To barre3 Corporate: New Director of Marketing Meysha Lovrien Shares Her Story
Meet Meysha Lovrien, barre3’s new Director of Marketing! Meysha first began her barre3 journey as a client, taking her first online class in 2015 before later experiencing our efficient, effective workout at her local studio. Meysha officially joined the barre3 Home Office team at the end of 2022 and dove right into leading marketing initiatives for the January Commitment To Self. Read on to learn more about Meysha and how she’s committing to herself this year.
BARRE3 MAGAZINE: You recently joined barre3 as Director of Marketing, but you’re no stranger to the company—you’ve been a client for years! Tell us about your experience.
MEYSHA: I was originally introduced to barre3 online classes by a friend in 2015. At the time, I was working full time, had two young kids, and I was struggling with high blood sugar—I was trying to solve for pending diabetes. I’d always been an active person and a clean eater (whole foods, primarily organic meats and veggies), but I knew I needed to really dive into what and when I was eating, and find a sustainable way to move my body, in order to feel my best and lower my blood sugar.
I remember seeing videos of barre3’s co-founder and CEO Sadie Lincoln literally doing exercises in her kitchen and I realized I couldn’t make excuses any longer—if she could do it, so could I! Taking an online class in my living room after putting my kids to bed worked really well for me for quite a while—I didn’t have to leave my house and I could easily squeeze in a workout ranging anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes.
In 2016 a barre3 studio opened in my neighborhood and another friend invited me to join her for a class, saying all I had to do was show up with my water bottle. I was immediately hooked! I loved the way the studio felt, the way the instructor introduced me to the class, and the accessibility of the moves and postures. I remember feeling so energized after that class.
BARRE3 MAGAZINE: What is your favorite aspect of barre3?
MEYSHA: Barre3 is not only an amazing workout, it’s also sustainable. I never have to talk myself into going to class! I have never felt stronger and I leave class with so much energy.
What really surprised me was the breathwork at the end of class. It’s a moment for me to pause and to set an intention for the day. It’s not that I can’t do this on my own, but I find it’s much easier when someone is guiding me! I love that I have these few minutes, just for me.
BARRE3 MAGAZINE: What made you decide to align your love for barre3 with your professional marketing career?
MEYSHA: With my background in brand strategy and design, I was drawn to the barre3 aesthetic and messaging from the very beginning. Barre3 speaks directly to me: I’ve always felt welcome, and the company’s values align with so many of my own values. All this means I can authentically promote the brand—I’m truly a fan!
BARRE3 MAGAZINE: What are you most looking forward to in your new role?
MEYSHA: I’m eager to combine my experience as a client with what I know as a marketing professional. As we come out of the pandemic, I’m really listening to determine how we can best serve our clients and studio owners. I’d love to see the space for nutrition and recipes increase and there’s a real opportunity for us to explore partnerships and collaborations with other brands that have similar values.
I’m excited to be working with a company that truly places value in self care. It’s a bit of a mind shift to know that I have permission to step away from work to take a barre3 class without guilt—because barre3 leadership understands that when I’m able to take time for me, they, in turn, get the very best of me.
BARRE3 MAGAZINE: In closing, we’d love to hear your responses to the following prompts!
When I take a barre3 class I feel…all the best things! More energy, strength, stamina, and balance in my body. Seriously—it’s why I keep coming back for more.
When I make time for myself I feel…refreshed. It’s a bit of a reset so I’m prepared to tackle whatever’s next.
Committing to myself means…paying attention to what I need and honoring it. Usually, it falls into one of four categories: movement, sleep, nutrition, or stress management.
Barre3 is the time that I can…dedicate to moving my body and setting my intention for the day.
