Meet The Instructor Behind The Barre3 Music You Love
Whether you’re in a barre3 studio, working out with us online, or scrolling our social channels, chances are you’ve heard the catchy tune “I Think I’m Ready for Love” by our very own Online Lead Instructor Andrew Ash. We sat down with him to learn about his music background, his inspiration, and how his love of music plays into his role at barre3.
BARRE3 MAGAZINE: Tell us about your inspiration for the song “I Think I’m Ready for Love.”
ANDREW: The melody of “I Think I’m Ready for Love” came to me out of nowhere while driving in my car. Once I realized I was humming a tune that I thought was really catchy, I pulled over, whipped out my phone, opened up the voice recorder app, and just started singing the words “I think I’m ready for love” over the melody I created. I was just going to use those words as a placeholder until I found something that was maybe more prolific, but then I thought “these words came to me for a reason, so why don’t I explore the meaning of those words a little more?” Those six words brought me to where I am currently with love, what life was like before love, and the transition from being an independent bachelor to a fully committed man.
BARRE3 MAGAZINE: How did you get involved with singing and writing music?
ANDREW: I’ve been singing since I was a child, and had my first solo in a school performance at the age of five. Growing up I was always drawn to pop music, and I loved it so much that I wanted to start writing my own pop hits. When I was fourteen, I got a keyboard for Christmas, and that day I sat at the keyboard, poked out some notes, and started teaching myself how to write my own songs.
BARRE3 MAGAZINE: How do you use your music background in your role at barre3?
ANDREW: At barre3 I do all the music curation and playlist mixing for barre3 online. I also work with one of our corporate trainers, Becca Faubel, to curate music for the barre3 studio classes. A lot of the barre3 instructors around the country contribute to the music we play in studio, as well.
BARRE3 MAGAZINE: Anything else you want b3 Magazine readers to know?
ANDREW: Well, this wouldn’t be an interview unless I shamelessly plugged my music. You can listen to “I Think I’m Ready for Love” wherever you buy or stream your music, and keep an eye out for a new song and music video from me in mid-March. You can find me on most social media platforms at @andrewashmusic. I’m most active on Instagram.
