Traveling can wreak havoc on our bodies if we’re not careful. Long flights, time zone changes, eating out in restaurants for every meal, and unfamiliar hotel beds can lead to sore and tight muscles, digestive issues, and poor sleep. I have a few strategies of my own to help you feel good on the road, but I wanted to know what wellness guru Kris Carr had to say on this subject. Read on for this green-juice maven’s favorite travel tips:
1. Bring oatmeal packets and trail mix for quick and easy breakfast or snack options. Kris’ favorite trail mix combo is a mix of brazil nuts, walnuts, cashews, goji berries, mulberries, and cacao chips. If you’re a green-juice lover like Kris, bring packets of your favorite greens powder to mix with water. It’s not the same as green juice, but it’s a good supplement while you’re on the go!
2. Pack essential oils like lavender and peppermint oil. Lavender is calming and perfect when you’re on an airplane or winding down before bed. Peppermint oil is a great way to help your body wake up. Simply put a few drops of oil in your hands and rub your hands together. Then cover your nose and mouth and take a few deep breaths.
3. Sleep! Your immune system is more vulnerable when you travel. In order to put your best foot forward and feel energized, you must make sleep a priority. Kris recommends bringing an eye mask and earplugs to help block out extra noise and improve the quality of your sleep.
