How many times have you found yourself approaching Labor Day and wondering how the summer flew by so fast? Between juggling crazy schedules and planning for vacations, while still keeping up with the logistics of regular life, it’s easy to reach the end of summer without making time for the things you really want to do. Our July #b365 theme—be boundless—can help.
One of the best ways to make the most out of summer is to create memorable experiences. And the very best way to create memorable experiences is to do something memorable! Something new. Something different. Something challenging. Something that ignores limits. These are the things that push us forward and help us grow. They are the things that will leave you satisfied at the end of summer, feeling like you squeezed every last drop out of these precious months.
Create Your Summer Bucket List
Getting specific with ideas for how to be boundless is what leads to action. We recommend writing out a bucket list of the things you want to try this summer. Making a bucket list not only can help hold you accountable but it’s also motivating and rewarding. It’s so satisfying to cross things off the list!
To help get you started, we’re sharing our summer bucket list. Feel free to borrow from it or just use it as a guide to create your own.
Here are 12 ways we’re planning to bound toward an unforgettable summer:
1. Take up a new activity.
Learn stand-up paddle boarding or surfing, take a rowing lesson, or go out for a long bike ride or hike. No matter what you choose to do, you’ll be strong because barre3 is great cross-training for so many activities.
2. Try a 6am workout.
While it’s rough when your alarm goes off, there’s no better way to jumpstart your morning. When you kick things off with energy, feeling strong and confident, it carries you throughout the rest of your day.
3. Plan a picnic.
Summer is made for eating outside. A picnic doesn’t have to be a ton of work. Mediterranean salad jars are an easy, healthy option to toss in a basket and head to the park, or make a batch of cauliflower couscous and roasted chickpeas and let everyone dig in.
4. Shop at the farmer’s market.
Farmer’s markets are incredible in the summertime! You can experience your favorite fruits and veggies when they’re in their prime, or choose something that’s in season that you’ve never tried before. To find a farmer’s market in your area, check out this site.
5. Swim in the ocean.
If you live by the beach or grew up surfing, this probably isn’t a bucket-list item for you. But for those of us who feel more comfortable poolside than in the sand, taking a dip in the ocean can be an exhilarating experience.
6. Go camping.
Unplugging from email and social media is so healthy. Getting off the grid on a camping trip, even if it’s just for one night, can really help you hit the reset button and connect with nature.
7. Sign up for a race.
Solo running is awesome for clearing your mind and getting your heart pumping. But there’s nothing like the adrenaline and camaraderie of a race to push your stride to the next level.
8. Attend a barre3 in the Park event.
Did you know that many barre3 studios host mega classes in parks in their local areas? Most of these inspiring events take place in the summer, so ask your closest studio if one is happening near you.
9. Take a road trip.
Nothing says summer like road tripping. Is there a state or town you’ve been wanting to check out? An old friend you’d love to reconnect with? Consider paying them a visit this summer! You can load up on podcasts and audiobooks before you go, or just roll down the windows and listen to the summer breeze.
10. Be a tourist in your own town.
If hitting the road isn’t doable, try seeing your own town with fresh eyes. What are the cool things to do in your local area? Maybe there are museums you’ve never been to, or a public garden or zoo where you can walk around.
11. Read that book—finally.
Treat yourself to a few hours of uninterrupted reading. Grab that book you’ve been wanting to start (or finish) and head to the park, pool, or porch. If you’re looking for recommendations, check out our list of summer beach reads.
12. Create a summer soundtrack.
What songs make you feel energized? Which ones remind you of good times from your past? What about new music that makes you want to get up and move? Create a playlist that will inspire you to get out and make this a summer to remember.
Now it’s your turn. How are you being boundless this summer? Let us know in the comments!
