We live in a funny world. We all know exercise is good for us—literally essential to our wellbeing—and we have the best of intentions around it (just look at the booming fitness industry for proof). And yet, our overall health as a nation is declining. So where’s the disconnect?
We’ve been set up to fail. We’re constantly bombarded by messages from the external world about what our bodies should look like—one very specific and highly unrealistic ideal—and we’re told that exercise will get us there. When it doesn’t, we feel like we’ve failed, and we quit.
At barre3, we have a radical idea: Instead of exercising to get to an unattainable ideal, what if we exercised to feel present and at home in our bodies, just as they are?
That’s what The barre3 January Challenge is all about. Starting Monday, January 6th, the four-week program redefines success in fitness by shifting the focus of exercise from how you look to how you feel. This challenge isn’t about exercising to punish your body; it’s about exercising to celebrate it—and when you do that, suddenly exercise becomes a pleasure, something you crave instead of dread. No more feeling like a failure, and no more quitting because you feel defeated. Just joyful, intuitive movement that helps you feel good, healthy, free, and present.
