Celebrating International Women’s Day Every Day At Barre3
As a company established and run by women and for women, International Women’s Day holds a special place in our hearts—and we’ve got the numbers to prove it: 100% of barre3 studios are owned by women, 94% of barre3 corporate employees are women, and 97% of studio clients are women.
With each class, we’re building upon our mission to teach people to be balanced in body and empowered from within. Here are just a few of the many ways every workout does that for women everywhere.
We Make Barre3 Accessible To Women At Every Stage Of Life
Come into a barre3 studio or connect with us online, and you’ll notice something right away: No two clients, instructors, or studio owners look exactly alike, and each of us finds ourselves in different parts of our lives. Whether you’re a new mama, new to fitness, or simply rekindling an old routine, we make sure that you’re set up with the support you need to find success in your workout.
We know too, that accessing fitness programs comes with different obstacles for everyone. One of the ways we’ve made barre3 more accessible for mothers before COVID is by offering childcare in all of our studios. This is an aspect of the studio experience we will continue to offer once it is safe again to do so. And if you’re working out with us from home, we offer online workouts that are specifically designed to support women throughout their prenatal journey and post-natal recovery.
We Address Imbalances In The Body To Help You Feel Stronger Each Day
Our bodies crave movement, but because our modern lifestyles have us sitting and slouching over our devices more often than not, key muscle groups are suffering from lack of use. For this reason, it’s crucial that the barre3 workout helps women strengthen the muscles we need the most. Our approach to functional fitness does this by re-engaging these areas of the body through everything from large-range moves like Squats and Lunges, to isolated exercises, like Bridge Lifts and Diamonds. By addressing common imbalances that many women experience, the barre3 workout helps you move with greater freedom and ease each day.
We Foster An Environment Where Empowerment Thrives
Take class with us in the studio or press play on an online workout, and you’ll pick up on something almost immediately: You are safe and encouraged to approach each workout in a way that feels best for you. We do this by providing you with modifications that create space for tending to an injury or differences in energy or ability.
Modifications help us tap into our inner body wisdom, building a relationship of trust between ourselves and our movement. What’s more, when we lean into our intuition, we accept that our workouts are a deeply personal expression of ourselves. With this approach, barre3 sets women up with the tools they need to connect with this key truth: You are your own best teacher.
But don’t just take it from us. Hear from the amazing women in the barre3 community themselves how barre3 helps them feel stronger, more present, and more aligned with their bodies, their intuition, and their inner truth.
Jasmine Niernberger, Founding Member and Instructor at Barre3 DC – 14th Street
“I went, and I fell in love with the community. It was so warm, so welcoming. I felt like it was a place where I could be me—a place I wanted to come back to. I also got an amazing workout. I had never experienced the shakes and quakes quite like that! And I loved the whole-body approach—the way it was the mind, body, soul, all in one package.” Read the full interview.
Dr. Regina Lewis, Member at barre3 Tulsa
“For me, yes it’s about the exercise, the relief from back pain, and the mental stamina, but it’s also the instructor’s message—that thing that carries me through the rest of the day. I noticed sometimes if I was giving a talk or speaking at a graduation, I would find myself quoting different things instructors said in class. All those self-love statements really resonated with me. I love that with barre3, it’s never about image. It’s about loving yourself as you are, not as what you think you should be.” Read the full interview.

“Since beginning my barre3 online journey, I have not only seen positive physical changes (hello stronger core!), but I’ve also seen healthy changes in other areas of my life. I eat more mindfully, I’ve learned to breathe through challenging moments, and I have more energy overall. Thank you to the barre3 community for keeping us connected and moving mindfully.” Read the full interview.

“While there are lots of great fitness classes out there, many of them are based on this language of shame, where you’re in competition with others or you have to look a certain way to participate. I’ve taken hundreds of classes over the years, and barre3 has never made me feel that way. Barre3 makes people feel welcome exactly as they are.” Read the full interview.

“From the beginning of that first class, I had never felt like I was getting both a workout and a therapy session all in one. I love that the class is so mental and physical—barre3 not only moves your body, but it encourages you to check in with yourself mentally. I had wanted a space where I could challenge my body and mind without the narrative that working out is meant to change who we are and what we look like. After that first barre3 class, I felt so okay with who I was in that moment and what my body looked like and how I felt. I had never experienced that before barre3.” Read the full interview.

“After coming out of a very intense Division I athletic program, I’ve realized that I don’t respond well to yelling and I’m not motivated by the mindset that tells you that you always have to be faster and go harder. That had been drilled into me for so long, and so when I discovered barre3, it was like a breath of fresh air. The workout gives you a burn, but I love the mindfulness behind it as well. I think it’s that combination that’s helped me stick with it. Barre3 is the perfect balance of encouragement and challenge. As I get older, I’m finding that mindfulness is such a huge part of sustaining a healthy lifestyle both mentally and physically, and it’s that aspect of the workout that really helped me connect with barre3.” Read the full interview.

“It is my mission to help clients connect with the way movement makes them feel, above and beyond how exercise makes them look. It is my passion to encourage people to feel balanced in body and empowered from within.” Read the full interview.
