Happy International Women’s Day, From barre3
As a company that was created by a woman, is led by women, and exists for women, we have an extra-special connection with International Women’s Day (today!). Read on to learn how barre3 supports women, both in the studio and beyond.
The class is designed to support and strengthen women’s bodies.
Barre3 workouts include functional strength training – the kind of moves that power you through your day-to-day life. Instead of isolating muscle groups, we look to strengthen imbalances in the body, helping you work toward a better state of balance.
With balance as a goal, we put a lot of work into strengthening the core—a focus that benefits women in all stages of life. A weak core can make everyday activities like lifting, running, jumping—even laughing—uncomfortable, but when we build strength through the midsection, we stand taller, we’re able to move more freely, and we help reduce our risk of injury caused by a lack of core strength. And when that’s the case, we can show up in our lives as our strongest selves.
We support women in every stage of life.
Whether you’re a college student craving a cardio workout, a pregnant mama-to-be looking for a safe way to exercise, a new mom in need of some “me” time, an athlete looking to supplement your workout regimen, or a retiree eager for both movement and connection, our workout is for YOU. How is that possible? Because in every class, our instructors provide modifications so that the workout is safe, effective, and energizing for everyone. While an intense sweat sesh at the gym might leave you feeling drained, barre3 classes provide you with renewed energy that you can take into the rest of your day.
Knowing that early motherhood can be an especially lonely and isolating time of a woman’s life, we made it a priority to make barre3 a sanctuary for moms in this stage of life. With Play Lounges in the majority of our 140+ studios, we make it possible for moms get in a full hour of cardio, strength-conditioning, and mindfulness in the studio, knowing that their children are being cared for by professionals in a safe, warm, inviting space. And if you can’t make it to the studio, barre3 Online has a library of over 500 workouts that you can do from your living room or while you’re on the road. Accessibility and inclusivity have always been our motivators, and it’s our hope that these elements of our business help make barre3 attainable for all women.
We teach you how to be empowered from within—both in our class and beyond.
We’ve said it before, and here it is again: You are your own best teacher. This belief gets at the core of our values. We’re not chasing exterior measures of success, but instead providing the foundation for you to discover what feels best for you.
Our instructors ask you to listen to your body, and though this may seem specific to the class, we’re actually teaching you a larger lesson: When you trust yourself and look within, you get better results. This is true in the studio and beyond. When you practice making choices that are founded in your truth, you’ll quickly find it becomes instinctive outside of class.
We are a company by women, for women.
And we’ve got the numbers to prove it:
- 100% of barre3 studios are owned by women.*
- 87.7% of barre3 corporate employees are women.
- 96.7% of all studio clients are women.
Barre3 is here for you and because of you. It’s a class that encourages your breath, a space where you can find the joy in movement, and a community where you can connect to the other amazing women around you. Thank you for being here and for moving with us.
*With a few men in the mix! 2.9% of studios are co-owned by women and their husbands.
