AN APPLE-CIDER VINEGAR ELIXIR THAT ACTUALLY TASTES GOOD
Let’s face it: No one is drinking apple cider vinegar for the taste. But for many of us, the benefits are worth forcing it down on a daily basis. “Taken with warm water before meals, it stimulates enzyme secretion to aid digestion,” says naturopathic doctor Jen Curtiss, who uses apple-cider vinegar often in her practice. It also helps dissolve biofilms, which are mucous barriers created by pathogenic microbes in the intestines, she explains. “This mechanism is likely where apple-cider vinegar gets its detox effect,” she says. “It helps to detox from microbial overgrowth.”
But again: the taste.
To make apple-cider vinegar more of a treat than a chore, we did some testing and tweaking, combining the offending ingredient with all manner of tasty mixers. We’re happy to say we landed on an apple-cider vinegar recipe that’s both easy to make AND easy on the tastebuds.
INGREDIENTS
2 Tbs. apple-cider vinegar
8-ounce glass of warm water
1 tsp. raw honey
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
Dash of cayenne
Juice from half a lemon
INSTRUCTIONS:
Whisk everything together and enjoy!
