Studio Owner Stories
Studio Owner Story: Angie Grant, barre3 Tulsa
When Angie Grant first walked into barre3 Tulsa, she wasn’t looking for a business opportunity – she was looking for a place to breathe. What she found was a community that felt like home. Today, as the owner of that very same studio, Angie has turned her passion for the barre3 mission into a remarkable success story. Since taking ownership in early 2025, Angie has seen her membership base scale exponentially and her community impact reach new heights. We sat down with Angie to discuss the “quiet click” of knowing it was time to lead, the importance of her leadership team, and why she believes barre3 is the ultimate destination for business-minded women.
B3: What is your personal and professional background?
Angie: I grew up in the heart of Tulsa, where community ties run deep. Later, I moved to Florida to pursue dental hygiene—an adventure that shaped my career and eventually brought me back home with a fresh sense of purpose. Today, my husband and I are both business owners in the Brookside neighborhood. We share a home full of love with our three furbabies and are proud to be active members of our community, building bridges and supporting all things local.
B3: What first led you to discover barre3, and why did you stay?
Angie: The founding owner, Brenda, invited me to try a class. At the time, I wasn’t looking for a fitness studio as much as I was searching for a refuge—a place where I could breathe again and feel grounded. After that first class, I couldn’t get enough. I was hooked!
B3: What inspired you to transition from client to franchise owner?
Angie: I knew for a long time that I was called to do this. When Brenda first sold the studio after building it for six years, I felt a tug at my heart, but the timing wasn’t right. Fortunately, the studio became available again in February 2025. This time, I couldn’t ignore what was meant to be. Something “clicked” in that quiet, soul-level way where you just know you’re exactly where you are supposed to be.
B3: Since taking over ownership, what growth have you seen at barre3 Tulsa?
Angie: The growth has been incredible. We have seen our membership base scale exponentially, and our revenue has seen significant, steady increases that have allowed us to double our wonderful staff. Beyond the numbers, we have also been able to expand our schedule to include all barre3 class types and increase our overall class offerings. Now, we are focused on maximizing our studio’s potential and reaching even more of our community.
B3: How did your previous career and life experience prepare you for this role?
Angie: Becoming a studio owner was the natural next step in a life built on caring for others. I wasn’t just chasing a business; I was embracing an opportunity to create a place of healing. The studio blends everything I value: kindness, strength, connection, and the simple reassurance that you aren’t alone. It’s a hub where personal transformation happens through movement, which is the key to both mental and physical health.
B3: How does the barre3 Support Center foster your success?
Angie: I feel incredibly supported by the Support Center, from instructor development to the amazing marketing tools that provide a strong foundation. I often say I want to soak up every “nugget” of information they provide because they truly have the recipe for success. As an owner, you get the backing of a very thoughtful corporate team; I love that they encourage our individuality while maintaining brand consistency.
B3: How do you structure the management and day-to-day operations of your studio?
Angie: It takes a village! I work closely with my Operations Manager and our Client Experience/Social Media Manager; they are truly my left and right hands. Our instructors are the heartbeat of everything we do, and the Client Experience team (working the front desk and play lounge) are the faces of the studio. My goal is to ensure the entire staff feels supported, seen, and heard. Pouring into my team and watching them shine is one of my favorite parts of ownership—when the team feels empowered, the members feel it, too.
B3: What differentiates barre3 from other fitness concepts?
Angie: There is no pressure, no comparison, and no “push harder” mentality that leads to burnout. Our science-backed templates and incredible training team allow us to lead with precision and kindness. It’s a space where diversity is encouraged and people feel safe to honor their own bodies. Each class offers strength, cardio, and mindfulness, giving clients exactly what they need—whether that’s power, release, or balance.
B3: What would you want readers to know about the barre3 owner community?
Angie: It’s a sisterhood with such deep camaraderie. Whether as a unit or individually, other studio owners are always there to answer questions, give advice, or lift you up with encouragement. It is a beautiful thing.
B3: What are your goals for barre3 Tulsa going forward?
Angie: I want to grow in a steady, meaningful way. Because of the strong financial foundation and member growth we’ve built since February 2025, I’m able to keep investing in my team—they are the pulse of our studio. I want every client to walk in, immediately exhale, and feel that “homebase” sensation. Tulsa is growing, and while I believe in laying a strong foundation first, the success we’ve seen so far makes me very excited to open a second location when the timing is right.
B3: Why should other business-minded women consider barre3 franchise ownership?
Angie: It is the perfect concept for women who want to build a meaningful community that makes a positive impact. It’s not just a chance to run a profitable studio—it’s an opportunity to build something deeply purposeful. If you want your work to matter on a joyfully human level, you will find so much fulfillment as a barre3 studio owner.
