Studio Owner Stories: Morgan Brown, barre3 Mount Pleasant
In 2012, Morgan Brown discovered barre3 Newtown in Pennsylvania. Having never truly connected with a fitness program before, she fell in love with the warm, welcoming vibe of the studio, staff, and community. She became certified instructor in 2015 and taught at barre3 DC, barre3 DC – 14th Street, and most recently at barre3 Rosemont. A mom of two young children, Morgan could not be more thrilled to follow her dream and bring barre3 to Mount Pleasant in South Carolina, which celebrated its grand opening in December 2023. Read on to learn more about Morgan’s inspiration to open a barre3 studio.
B3 MAGAZINE: How did you find barre3?
MORGAN: I found barre3 online in 2012. There wasn’t a studio where I lived at the time in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I was hooked instantly and bought the core ball, a set of 2 lb weights, and I did an online workout every single day after work!
B3 MAGAZINE: What made you decide to open a barre3 studio?
MORGAN: In December of 2020 my family and I were making the decision to move to Charleston and during our neighborhood search I realized there wasn’t a barre3 in our desired location of Mount Pleasant. Barre3 has been such a huge part of my life for 9 years at this point, so I wasn’t sure how I felt about living somewhere that didn’t have it—especially since having a “home” with barre3 was truly so important to me as it has been there for me during moves to New York City, Washington D.C., and then back to the Philadelphia area. I decided to start the process to bring barre3 to Mount Pleasant and the rest is history!
B3 MAGAZINE: What do you find most gratifying about opening your studio?
MORGAN: My favorite part of owning my studio is watching connection and movement change people’s lives. We’ve had so many clients who are either new to the area and looking for a community, or haven’t been able to find a workout that they love or a place where they feel like they belong. They now have a place to do all of those things and it’s barre3.
