THE CLIENT LETTER THAT’S MAKING OUR HEARTS SWELL
You’ve probably heard your instructor say that an hour of B3 will serve you throughout the other 23 hours of your day—but have you ever wondered exactly what that means? This letter says it more beautifully than we ever could have ourselves.
I wandered into barre3 Frisco because I was bored with my usual workouts. I thought it would be an experience that I would try once and file away as “nice, but not my thing.” I have never been so happy to be so wrong. But I didn’t truly realize what an impact barre3 has had on my life until the last week.
My mom is nearing the end of a journey through early-onset dementia. She recently moved out of an assisted-care facility; Mom is now at home, with the help of daily aides and hospice workers. My father wanted to give the caregivers Christmas Eve and Christmas day off, so I went to help.
It’s physically demanding work to transfer someone who is wheelchair bound, to dress someone who has stiff joints, to provide personal care for someone who can’t communicate or follow directions. But my barre3 workouts gave me the strength to lift my mom up, and the body awareness to use the proper muscles to protect myself from injury.
More importantly, through it all, I heard the voices of the barre3 Frisco staff in my head, coaching me through an extraordinarily difficult and emotional time:
“This is hard, but you can do it.”
“Set your intentions. Why are you here?”
“It’s okay if you need a break; breaks are not failure. Take the time you need and come back stronger.”
“Release any tension that’s not serving you.”
“You’re stronger than you think.”
So thank you. Thank you for providing a studio that feels like home. Thank you for assembling a staff of extraordinary women. And thank you for helping me (and so many others!) develop physical and mental strength and resilience.
