MEET THE TEAM: A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE AMAZING LISA CREATURA
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to live, work, and embrace all things B3, you should definitely spend some time with Lisa Creatura. As an instructor and the assistant manager at our Williams and Southeast studios in Portland, she’s often with us from dawn to dusk, moving nonstop all day long. She’s a force of energy, joy, and so much laughter in our community, and we recently tagged along with her for a glimpse into her daily routine. It’s a busy one, so let’s get going. Take it away, Lisa!
4:45 AM: Rise and shine! Oh boy, it’s early, but I open our studios, so I often get up before the sun. I try and prep my breakfast the night before, so I can be in bed as long as humanly possible. My go-tos are overnight oats and smoothies, because they’re quick, easy, and I can eat them on the way to work.
5:30 AM: Even though we don’t open until 5:45, I always arrive early so I have time to get moving and actually wake up before clients come. I also use the extra minutes to review my class and make any last-minute adjustments, if necessary. My all-time favorite move is step-taps, so you can be sure we’ll be warming up with those!
6 – 8:15 AM: I’m teaching back-to-back classes, and I love it. Morning classes are my jam, because the clients mean business! They’re so inspiring, and it pushes me to make those 60 minutes both challenging and energizing. And they make the super-early wake-up worth it!
8:30 AM – 1:30 PM: After teaching, I hop behind the front desk, where I spend the next few hours. One of the first things that drew me to barre3 was the community, so being at the door of the studio is especially wonderful. I love that I get to see the same clients and their kiddos almost every day. At the same time, every day at barre3 is different. That’s one of the best—if not the best—parts about it. I’m always excited to come to work.
1:30 – 3:30 PM: Break time, so I head home to have lunch with my fiancé, Alex. We like to walk our dog, Derby, to a nearby taco truck for carne asada burritos. I also use this time to relax before my evening shift. Reading is my favorite way to decompress before heading back to work.
4 – 7 PM: If it’s nice enough outside, I skate to my evening shift. I live right near the studio, so my commute is a lot of fun—and I can avoid traffic! This is the time of the day when I can really check off the to-do list: Cranking out emails, folding a ton of towels, all the little productive things. I’ve grown incredibly close with the evening community at the Southeast studio, and if I’m lucky, someone will hang around the desk after class and chat with me.
7:30 – 9 PM: After I wrap up work at the studio, Alex usually has dinner ready for us when I get home. He’s a keeper, and we’re set to make it official in September! Since I start my mornings early, I often don’t have time to cook a meal. Because of this, barre3 recipes have been a savior! They’re made for busy lifestyles like ours. If you haven’t already, definitely try the Green Chile Chicken Posole and the Roasted Chicken with Braised Spring Vegetables. They’re so, so good.
9:30 PM: Lights out! Thanks for tagging along with me today. I have another early start tomorrow, so I’m off to bed!
