Title: Instructor, barre3 Morristown & Livingston
Mood: Energized!
Goals: To feel stronger and more balanced in the hectic day-to-day.
Making It Happen: I’ve stuck to the five-class plan and the nutrition component, and I absolutely notice a difference in my strength and energy! I did have a mental setback during class last week though. I was in the middle of combo work and I was a hot, wobbly mess. My calves were cramping, I felt so off-balance. My inner voice was saying “What’s wrong with you? You’re an instructor, you should be better than this.” So I modified because I had to, but my mind kept beating me up for “wimping out.” After class, I found myself making excuses—as if to apologize for my inability to sustain turbo mode. But then my inner B3 guru stepped up to remind me: I’ve been taking a lot more classes than usual, spending more time on my feet, and cooking more, so some days, turbo mode means having the mental strength to embrace modifications. Because THAT is what will help me meet my goal. So today, I pressed play and rocked out to Shannon’s awesome weekly workout, I embraced those mods, and I’m feeling stronger and more balanced than I have in a long time.

Mood: Excited and, admittedly, surprised!
Goals: To jump back in and stay all-in, after being sick in bed for two days last week.
Making It Happen: I’m surprised because the hype is legit! Ditching coffee actually does make me feel more amazing. I can feel the difference after just two weeks, and the fact that I’m feeling fantastic the week after a gnarly cold says a lot. Coffee was one of my favorite things and I’m realizing that it is a habit—that moment with my hubby before the kids get up—that I’m really addicted to. I’m now keeping the morning moment strong with green tea and marveling at how much better I feel both day and night without coffee.

Mood: Strong and committed.
Goals: Finding balance between challenging myself and also being aware of what I need each day.
Making It Happen: In the past, I’ve taken health and fitness challenges to the extreme, and I’ve learned from barre3 that doing so is not sustainable. So for B3 ALL IN, I’m finding that balance. Planning my workouts in advance and creating variety within my routine keeps me inspired. Meal prepping each Sunday ensures that I’m nourishing my body properly with food I seriously love. Right now, the smoothie addiction is REAL. I get in bed each night excited to turn on my VitaMix in the morning! I am feeling strong, energized and committed to continue beyond this month.

Title: Instructor, barre3 Allentown
Mood: Grounded, energized, and inspired.
Goals: To become more present and focus on one thing at a time instead of multitasking. Also, to give up coffee and all caffeine!
Making It Happen: I feel like I hit my stride last week. I’m no longer going through caffeine withdrawals and have found herbal teas to replace the old addiction. I’ve been trying to take five classes a week on top of those that I teach, and while it’s been a bit of a struggle, I’ve been successful! In order to protect my body, I’m embracing modifications. I’m feeling super strong and so good in my skin. The continued excitement and encouragement from our community is contagious. So ready to keep going strong!

Title: barre3 Master Trainer
Mood: Being pregnant, I need at least eight hours of sleep to feel like my best self, so I am pretty exhausted. I have to remember that it’s OK to go to bed at 8:30 or 9 p.m. if that’s what my body needs. Eating clean is helping keep my energy up, and I ditched dairy and gluten this month, which has been MAJOR. My skin is glowing and I feel like I can breathe better!
Goals: It’s not just about me anymore. I want my baby to be as happy and healthy as possible. Eating nourishing foods and moving every day is crucial, plus it helps me feel good while all this crazy stuff is happening to my body!
Making It Happen: I need accountability buddies, so I am incredibly inspired by the positive energy in the studios, and on the community board. I love the honesty, support, and realness everyone is bringing to the table. It makes me feel safe and comfortable while I push myself this month.

Title: Instructor, barre3 Madison
Mood: Tired and a little stressed, but better than last week!
Goals: To continue to make mindful, healthy choices and to stick to four studio classes per week.
Making It Happen: I felt particularly drained during the first week—like my body just couldn’t handle any more. The second week, I still experienced tough moments of near failure in class, but I feel like I’m breaking through and getting stronger by keeping my practice consistent. I’ve successfully crowded out sugary coffee drinks, most soda, and almost all alcohol since the beginning of the year. While my sweet tooth still triggers cravings every now and then, they’re slowly going away, and I don’t feel as bloated and yucky for putting all that junk in my body!
