Nourish
November #b365 Tip: Nourish
When most people think nourish, they immediately think of food. And while food is certainly part of it, nourishing is about so much more than that! Put simply, nourishing includes anything that gives you energy and fills you up in a positive way. It’s rest, it’s fresh air, it’s art, it’s food—and it’s crucial to living a healthy, balanced life (so crucial, in fact, that it’s one of our three barre3 pillars: Exercise, Nourish, Connect).
Check out some of our favorite ways to nourish, and try one (or more!) of them today.
Move. Have you ever noticed how simply moving your body can change your outlook? A walk around the block can help you snap out of a rut at work. An impromptu dance party with your toddler can change the tone of the day. A hike through the woods can feel like pressing “reset” on your psyche. Every day, move in a way that gives you joy, whatever that happens to be.
Get inspired. Visit your favorite museum—and let yourself stand in front of that mesmerizing work of art for as long as you want. Watch a documentary on someone you’ve always been fascinated by. Read a book, go to a concert, check out that new restaurant you’ve been reading about. We all get inspiration in different ways. Find yours, and go for it!
Be with “your people.” Who are your people? The ones who get you, who nurture you, who laugh with you. The ones who love and support you. The ones who always leave you feeling lifted up and confident. These people are gold, and spending time with you is one of the healthiest things you can do.
Practice self-care. This is both the easiest and hardest one on the list—easy because self-care can be something as simple as taking a hot bath or making sure you get a good night’s rest, but hard because it’s often the first to drop off the to-do list when life gets busy. Instead of waiting for the “right time” to practice self-care, make it a priority. You—and everyone around you—will be better for it.
Eat. At barre3, we celebrate food, working from one simple principle: Eat whole foods. We believe food should leave you feeling satisfied, never hungry or deprived, and that’s why we never count calories. Instead, every barre3 recipe includes a balance of protein, fiber, and healthy fats—a combination that keeps you feeling satiated and energized long after you eat. Want some inspo? Check out our recipes on the b3 Kitchen (the Sweet Potato, Chickpea + Spinach Coconut Curry recipe is brand new, and it’s amazing).
