Top 5 Takeaways from mindbodygreen’s Revitalize
My colleague Michelle and I just got back from mindbodygreen’s Revitalize, in Dove Mountain, AZ, where I spoke on a panel. The three-day event brings together thought-leaders in the health and fitness world, and Michelle and I were blown away by all the energy and ideas! Here’s a list of our top five aha moments from the weekend!
- Trust your gut. There isn’t just one way to trust your gut. We heard from Jill Willard about understanding and accepting intuition. And then we heard from neurologist Dr. David Perlmutter, he had a whole different meaning in mind. His talk opened our eyes to just how connected our brains are to our gut health, and even included tips on how to set yourself up for a strong mind-body connection
- What do all entrepreneurs have in common? Purpose. I sat on a panel in good company with fellow entrepreneurs, and while our businesses are different, a theme emerged loud and clear: We are all driven by a strong sense of purpose. Here’s a link to what everyone had to say.
- Eat your vegetables. All nutrition is debatable—and we heard all sides of that debate this weekend from Dr. Joel Kahn and Dr. Aseem Malhotra, both renowned cardiologists who believe in the power of a “plant-strong” diet. The one thing they (and most) experts across the board agree on is that vegetables should fill your plate, a part of our own portion prescription at barre3.
- Natural makeup without harsh chemicals—tested and approved! Some of the most fascinating moments at these summits happen behind the scenes. Natural makeup expert Jessa Blade was in the greenroom to help me get ready to go on stage for my talk, and she shared her favorite natural beauty products with me! I’m especially excited to add Beauty Counter, Balanced Guru and CocoKind to my routine.
- We’ve come a long way! Dr. Frank Lipman received mindbodygreen’s Lifetime Achievement award, and it was not only well-deserved, but also such a big moment for the whole-body-health movement. When he first started practicing, Dr. Lipman was considered a revolutionary for focusing on sustainable wellness and blending Western medicine with things like acupuncture and relaxation techniques. The fact that his approach is so respected that he’s now receiving major awards like this shows how far we’ve come.
