Since so many of you challengers are backing off of alcohol during our barre3 Anywhere Challenge, we pulled together a list of Sadie Lincoln’s favorite alternatives to wine, beer and cocktails. Give one of the drinks below a try, and you might not even miss your traditional alcoholic beverage.
1. Before Sadie heads to summer BBQs, she brews up a pitcher of the Good Earth Sweet and Spicy Herbal Iced Tea.
2. If you’re craving a spritzy summer wine, pour equal amounts sparkling water and tart, antioxidant-rich cherry juice over ice. (You can also adjust the ratio of juice to water to suit your taste.) Want to give this fruity beverage a little savory flavor? Just slip a rosemary sprig into the glass!
3. When a summer party calls for a beer, reach for a bottle of komboucha tea. (Sadie’s a big fan of GT’s Synergy.) Or open a can of LeCroix Sparkling Water. The naturally flavored sparkling waters really quench your thirst – and when you pop one open, you feel like you’re opening a can of beer.
4. One of Sadie’s favorite mocktails is this non-alcoholic version of the Moscow Mule. To make a Moscow Mule, muddle about 1 teaspoon finely grated fresh ginger, 6 to 8 mint leaves and a handful of small ice cubes in a copper mug. Then fill the glass with lime-flavored LeCroix Sparkling Water. (If you don’t have a copper mug, you can make this drink in a cocktail glass or Mason jar or pick up a copper mug here.)
5. Sadie’s good friend and acupuncturist, Sarah Hayes, shared this tropical Mockolada recipe – and it only has three ingredients. Try serving it with little cocktail umbrellas and fancy straws in the glass to make the drink feel extra festive.
Mockolada
Makes about 4 (8 ounces) drinks
4 ½ cups fresh cubed pineapple
1 (14-ounce) can full-fat coconut milk (like Native Forest coconut milk)
2 ½ cups ice cubes
2 tablespoons of chia seeds
In a blender, combine the pineapple, coconut milk and ice. Blend well, pour into 4 glasses and serve.
