barre3 Owners Share New Year’s Intentions
With a new year just around the corner, some of our studio owners weighed in on the resolutions they’re making for a happier, healthier life. Read on and get inspired to make 2015 your best year yet!
“In 2015, I’m focusing on being present in the moment. I want to ensure that I’m 100% focused on whatever I’m doing at that time. There’s time for work, and then there are other times to just sit on the floor and play with my 2-year-old daughter Peyton. My hope for all of you is that this year, you can slow down and make every single moment count.” Lauren Truslow, barre3 Columbia
“One theme in Jason Fried’s book Rework that has really stood out to me is “Focus on me, not they.” It can be easy to get derailed and fall into the trap of comparing yourself to other people. For example, when I see my neighbor with a super stylish new outfit or when I hear that my friend’s child got straight A+’s on her report card, I can become distracted and lose sight of my own mission, which is helping my community and my family embrace whole-body health. In 2015, my objective is to stay laser focused on the things that really matter to me.” – Holly Coltea, barre3 Nashville
“Like everyone else with a busy schedule, my time seems to slip away. I find it hard to fit in things that matter most like eating healthy. By the time I’m ready to eat, I’m starving and grab the first thing I see, which isn’t always the best option. I’m sure some of you can relate! My intention for 2015 is to be proactive instead of reactive. Moving forward, I’m going to schedule time to go to the grocery store and cook barre3 recipes.” Patti Steinhauer, barre3 Madison
“My mantra for 2015 is balance. I want to help my family be more mindful when using technical devices like iPhones, iPads, TVs, and computers. Growing up in the 80s, we still read actual books, thumbed through dictionaries to look up words, and wrote handwritten letters. I need to learn to both accept and remember that my children’s reality is different than mine was. We will meet somewhere in the middle and take on a more balanced approach together.” Heather Kass, barre3 Seattle
“I’m focusing on one word in 2015: connection. Connection with my instructor team, my husband, my young son Wyatt, our extended family, and our friends is so important. When I spend quality time with the people I love, I’m happier and less stressed.” Jessica Neely, barre3 Eugene
