This smoothie, given to us by Andrea Nakayama of Replenish PDX, is a favorite of our barre3 team here in Portland.
GET-UP-AND-GO! SMOOTHIE
2-3 servings
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups water
8 pitted prunes (if hard, soak them overnight)
2 medium frozen bananas*
1/4 cup ground flax seeds
1 large handful of spinach, chopped
2 tablespoons almond or sunflower butter
1 tablespoon raw honey or 4 pitted dates
Pinch sea salt
Ice cubes (optional)
PREPARATION:
1. One by one add the ingredients to your blender, blending between each addition to achieve a smooth consistency.
*NOTE: To freeze bananas: First peel them. Cut them in half, and store in an airtight container or freezer bag. This way they are ready to go for smoothie-making.
