HERE’S WHY YOU’VE BEEN FEELING EXTRA AMAZING AFTER YOUR BARRE3 CLASS
Ever notice how amazing you feel after your barre3 class? That’s because, in addition to strength conditioning and cardio, we weave mindfulness throughout the entire workout, giving it extra emphasis with breathwork at the end. Combined with deep-muscle stretches, breathwork helps to ground you and focus your body and mind, leaving you feeling energized and ready to take on the rest of the day. Here’s why we added those mindful minutes to the end of class.
WHY THE CHANGE?
Barre3 has always been a mindful workout that helps you to connect to your body—so why the evolution? “We saw an opportunity to enhance the class through a stronger ending to ground the nerves, balance the breath muscles, and reset the energy,” says Director of Corporate Instructor Development Meredith Leback. Those last minutes of class are crucial because they help set the tone for the rest of your day. When you leave class feeling calm and grounded, you bring that energy to everything else you do.
WHAT WILL BE DIFFERENT?
During the last ten minutes of class, your instructor will guide you through static stretches, like Figure Four, and a spinal reset, like Cat/Cows, alongside focused breath work to calm your mind. Then you’ll flow through movements to move the spine and wake up the body so you can leave the studio feeling refreshed and reset.
HOW WILL YOU BENEFIT?
Not only will you leave class feeling calmer and more centered, but you’ll also be empowered with breathing tools you can take with you throughout the day. And since most of us are shallow breathers—which increases stress and anxiety—these breathing tools are true game-changers.
“In class, we teach clients to focus on their breath and to inhale slowly and fully in hopes that they can turn to their breath for control when they are in a stressful situation, are feeling tired or are overwhelmed,” says Meredith. “We can’t avoid all stressors in life, but we can develop healthier ways of responding to them. Barre3 is here to help with that.”
