Too Busy For Self-Care? These Super-Simple Ideas Will Change Your Mind
Despite what the marketing gurus of the wellness world would have you believe, self-care doesn’t have to involve booking a full day of pampering at a luxurious spa. Don’t get us wrong—we love a great spa treatment as much as anyone—but we also like to pamper ourselves on our own time (and without the steep price tag).
Our solve: DIY self-care. Read on for our favorite ways to pamper ourselves at home. All are super-simple, cost far less than a spa treatment, and will leave you feeling amazing.
Soak It In
For many of us, a soak in the tub is our go-to self care treat. Take your bath one step beyond by adding a cup of epsom salts and a few drops of a calming essential oil. We recommend vetiver, cedarwood, and lavender, which are all known to inspire tranquility (and you’ll come out smelling amazing!)
All About That Face
A face mask takes just a few minutes to apply, and you’ll instantly be doing healthy things for your skin. While your mask works it’s magic, take your self-care even further by using that time to jot a few lines in your journal, or even to just close your eyes and focus on your breath. We love the way this mask feels and smells, or make your own mask with what you’ve already got in your kitchen.
Press Play
When your day is packed, and there’s no time to get to a studio, carve out just ten minutes wherever you are for a quick barre3 online workout. Moving your body, breathing big and getting your heart pumping is always good self-care. You’ll feel stronger, more balanced, and energized—we promise.
Totally Polished
There’s something about a new manicure that makes us feel really put together. Plan a few minutes at the very end of your day to paint your nails (we love this brand because it’s free of toxic chemicals and never tested on animals), and then wake up with color that’s totally dry and ready to go.
Roll It Out
Whether you’re still glowing from that amazingly empowering B3 class you just took, or you’re in your pajamas wrapping up your day, foam rolling is a self-massage that you can treat yourself to anytime, and pretty much anywhere. You’ll need a roller (most of our studios have one you can use), and you can chat with a barre3 instructor or opt into our online Foam Rolling Collection for videos showing you how to roll different parts of your body.
Eyes On The Prize
Using an eye cream at the end of a long day just takes a minute, but makes us feel like we’re taking extra-good care of ourselves. If you don’t already have a favorite brand, try this avocado-based eye cream—it has an amazing texture, a beautiful green hue and a lovely scent. Dab around the eyes and let the self-care ensue.
Between The Lines
Making the time to sit and read sounds easy enough, but some of us are so go go go, that we forget how rejuvenating this simple act can be. Stake your claim on some quality “me time” by curling up in with a cozy blanket (how dreamy are these travel-inspired throws?!) and that book or magazine you’ve been wanting to read.
What’s your go-to when it comes to simple self-care? For us, nothing beats the power of movement. Join us in the studio for 2 weeks of unlimited classes for $49 or sign up for a 15-day free trial of barre3 online today!
