Introducing the Love Your Lower Body Book + DVD Series

I’m so excited to share my new book and DVD series: Love Your Lower Body. I teamed up with Prevention Magazine to develop this fun, effective 8-week program that’s flexible enough to fit into even the most hectic of schedules. Using my signature barre3 formula for success (including barre3 workouts, nourishing meals, and connecting with others for motivation), the program quickly transforms your body and tones those hard-to-reach trouble spots like your belly, hips, and thighs. You won’t just shed extra weight and inches, though—you’ll also reduce stress, gain energy and learn how to nourish your body with delicious whole foods. What’s not to love about that?

My book is filled with invigorating workouts, clean-eating tips, motivational tools, and more. Inside you’ll find a detailed fitness plan, a flexible and delicious nutrition program, plus tons of simple-to-prepare recipes. The DVD series brings the experience of the book to life as I show you step-by-step how to tone your entire body.

THE WORKOUTS

The weekly workout plan is based around the goal of accomplishing at least one 10-minute workout. If you have energy to keep going after 10 minutes, I offer up more 10-minute workouts to layer on. If 10 minutes is all you have time (and energy) for, you’ll still get great results (just ask the women who tested this program— they became big believers in the power of 10!).

THE MEAL PLAN

Each recipe in the book uses the barre3 Portion Rx of using only whole foods with a balance of protein, healthy fat and fiber. I don’t believe in deprivation—the recipes are satisfying, and I have something for every craving, from go-to desserts like my yummy strawberry shake to the most popular recipe among the test group, Chicken Tacos.

THE RESULTS

I know this program works because we tested it on 27 real women. Many had tried dozens of other diet and exercise programs and were close to giving up since nothing seemed to work. They were all very driven and successful in other areas of their lives—however, committing to working out and eating healthy meals seemed to be out of reach for them. (Sound familiar?)

I’m proud to report that all 27 women successfully completed the program. Everyone lost weight and inches, but the most impressive results were what we call “off the scale” victories. After eight weeks, many women reported that their preferences actually changed. Diet Coke didn’t taste good anymore. They reached for kale chips instead of potato chips. And they craved being active because it felt so good—even if just 10 minutes at a time. Most of them are now barre3 studio clients, too! These behavior shifts are what I’m most proud of.

LET’S DO THIS!

You can order the book and DVD set on Rodale’s site, and please let me know how you like Love Your Lower Body on Facebook. Me and my team of studio owners and instructors are here for you every step of the way!

  1. Hi, I’m on day 3 of the LYLB plan! I’m excited! I’m about 90% on the diet. And yes, the chicken tacos are awesome :)

My question is about the 1 inch movements/5 breaths in the 10 transformative minutes. Are these movements like “pulses” that I’ve experienced in other barre videos? I’m finding that slower controlled movements are taking me way over the 30 secs or minute. Also, the 5 deep breaths at the start of each pose are also taking me way over time. Any advice?

    • Hi Evelyn, we love hearing this! One-inch movements are what we do when we cue “down one inch and up” in class or on videos. So timing wise, one minute is typically 25-30 reps of one-inch small range movements. The pulses are a little faster than that. You will want to try sticking with the “down one inch and up” one-inch pacing.

We cue breaths in postures that we hold in (crescent lunge for example). If taking five deep breaths in each posture is taking you over time, try trimming the breath down to three or four deep breaths. It’s great that you are breathing deeply, this is so healthy for the body! Let us know how LYLB goes for you.

  3. I purchased the Prevention DVD’s for Love your Lower Body. My question is, can you provide or where can I find a schedule to know what I should do daily, weekly and how long is the plan from beginning to end? Is it a 8 week plan? I didn’t purchase the book. Actually, I wasn’t aware of the book until I started looking for the schedule. Is the book required to complete this plan?

    • Hi Jacquelyn, the DVD workouts can be used as a supplement the workouts found in the book. We recommend doing the workout plan written in the book for the first week. This will help you become familiar with our postures! In the following weeks, if you want to change up you workouts, try using the DVDs. For example, if you have a 40-minute workout one day, instead of doing the book workout, try doing the 40-minute Total Body Blast DVD. Please let us know if you have any questions!

  4. Is there any kind of rotation available using all of the workouts from the Love Your Lower Body DVD set?

    • Hi Beth, the DVD workouts can be used as a supplement the workouts found in the Love Your Lower Body book. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions!

  5. Hi ,
Can I order the book as I saw it in Australian Prevention mag.
Rodale only seems to send to USA & Canada.
    I live in Australia.

  6. I just received the book and DVDs. I’m excited to try the workouts! I can’t seem to figure out how the routines in the book match up with the DVD. Where can I find the 10 Transformative Minutes routine on the DVD?

    • Hi Ann,

We’re so thrilled to hear that you’re enjoying the book! The DVD workouts can be used as a supplement the workouts in Love Your Lower Body. Try doing the workout plan written in the book for the first week of the program. This will help you become familiar with our postures and workouts. In the following weeks, if you want to change up you workouts, try using the DVDs. For example, if you have a 40-minute workout one day, instead of doing the written workout in the book you can do the 40-minute Total Body Blast DVD. We hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any questions.

  7. Hi,

It’s Nathalie again. It’s great that the dvds are zone free. I have just tried to order from Rodale Store but unfortunately, they only ship to Canada or The States and I live in Europe… If there is a way to order it from Europe, please let me know.

  8. Do you have previews anywhere of the DVD. I would like to see sample from it before I purchase. I am current subscriber and would want to make sure it is different enough from online workouts to merit purchase. New moves?

  9. Hello,
I am very interested by the offer but I am wondering if the Dvds are region free (Region 0) or Region 1 (for the States only). Thank you in advance for your reply.

  10. Hi! I am currently a Barre3 online subscriber and occasional stuio go-er. I was wondering if you thought this was something that I could benefit from, even though I have access to the online work outs and recipes? Is it different? I am intrigued!
Love your company, workouts and recipes! Keep them coming! :)

    • Hi Jenni,

Yes this is something that complements the workouts and recipes you currently have access to. The book and DVDs are filled with barre3 tips, tools, new recipes, and workouts. We hope you check it out!

  11. I figured it out from Facebook comments. I meant subscription above…oops:) Excited to get the book and DVDs and get started!

  12. Are these workouts online or are they different ones? I have an online prescription and didn’t know if I really needed to purchase the DVD mentioned above as well.

  13. I purchased the Barre 5 DVD set from an online offer. Are they the same ones?
If so I am interested in purchasing the book separately.
    Thank you
    Susan
