Family is so important to us at barre3, so we have a soft spot for our Austin studios– they’re owned by two sisters! Meet studio owners Kimberly Miller-Goldberg and Tara Miller-Heavner, and then visit the barre3 Austin Hill Country Galleria and barre3 Austin Downtown Facebook pages to take a peek inside their lovely studios.

My motto: Life is a journey, not a destination. Enjoy the moments.

I own barre3 because: I truly wanted to find balance in all aspects of life. With so many aspirations, I needed to find an outlet to target every need. Barre3 is the perfect platform to satisfy all of my ambitions, creating true balance in mind, body, and spirit.

The signature barre3 posture I am known for teaching is: my killer legs series. I love to mix it up, and I strive to break everyone’s personal plateaus in every class.

One word to sum up my studio culture is: Family. Not just because my sister and I work together, but because we consider everyone family: our employees, our clients, their children. We invest in everyone that walks through our doors.

My favorite part of being a barre3 studio owner is: feeling complete. Every desire is met. I am able to schedule quality time daily with my children. My husband is proud of my accomplishments, and I am proud to be a provider for our family. I am constantly challenged, motivated, and driven to succeed. I am awarded daily by educating others to be healthy, happy and fit.  And I am so blessed to build a dream with my best friend, my sister.

My motto: Find joy in every moment. Let the negative go.
I own barre3 because: I wanted to do something more meaningful. I wanted to do something that inspired people to take better care of themselves. I wanted to something that allowed me to appreciate my body for what it is and what it is capable of, not how it compares to the picture on the cover of the magazine. I wanted to create a positive environment to work in. I want to make a difference.

Favorite barre3 move: I love scoop to neutral. As a new mom, scoop to neutral has done so much for me to rebuild that strength in my lower belly and pelvic floor.

Before owning a barre3 studio, I was: A marathoner. Professionally, I worked in finance at a boutique broker/dealer. In addition to running the trading desk, I was the personal assistant to the CEO of the firm.

The signature barre3 posture I am known for teaching is:  Carousel horse, starting and finishing with an isometric hold.

One word to sum up my studio culture is: Acceptance.

My favorite part of being a barre3 studio owner is: Empowering people to change and improve their lives. I love seeing the changes people experience. I love the community we have built. I love that my baby girl Larryn has come to work with me since the day we opened and that I get to spend so much time with her. I love the friends I have through our team, our community and nation wide.

  1. Kim and Tara are such positive and encouraging people! Barre3 has changed my body and my attitude, and much of that progress I must attribute to my amazing studio and instructors at the downtown Austin Barre3. Thank God for Kim and Tara!!!

  2. These two sisters have a good thing going here in Austin. I was hooked from the first class. I am so thrilled to still be able to practice throughout my pregnancy. I feel strong and healthy and it’s all thanks to them. The accommodating and supportive atmosphere from the entire staff just makes you want to come back for more. It’s addictive because it’s effective. We’re so lucky to have you girls!

  3. Tara and Kim are fantastic, and the barre3 Austin staff is welcoming and encouraging! They are so proactive about helping clients find what works for their bodies (with adjustments & modifications) and then learning to push through to improve each person’s practice. There is such a positive atmosphere at this studio; it makes quaking through class that much more rewarding!

  4. Just wanted to shout out to these two studio owners! I had the pleasure of meeting and taking one of Kimberly’s classes while I was visiting Austin! I cannot say enough nice things about this studio. VERY warm and inviting and accomadating! Thank you!!! You two are wonderful:)
