Recipe: Sneaky Greens Smoothie

Emily Malone from Daily Garnish is impossible to ignore. We love her recipes, and we admire her commitment to living an active and healthy lifestyle.  We’re thrilled that she shared her favorite smoothie with us! Thank you Emily!

Emily’s husband blends this smoothie every morning for the whole family to share. She loves having something quick and healthy in the fridge, ready to pull out whenever she needs a boost. It’s an added bonus that her 16-month old is a fan! He isn’t a greens lover, and this smoothie allows her to sneak some greens into his diet.

Sneaky Greens Smoothie
Serves 3-4

INGREDIENTS:
2 ripe bananas
1 cup frozen strawberries
1 cup frozen mango
3 medium carrots
2 cups almond milk
1 tablespoon flax oil
handful of fresh spinach
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

PREPARATION:
1. Place all ingredients into a blender and enjoy!

  1. Hi,

Unfortunately I don’t eat bananas (I know they are incredible for you, I just don’t enjoy the taste). I noticed a lot of the shakes call for bananas. Is there anything else you recommend instead of banana? I am enjoying the others soomthies!

    Thanks!

    • Yes! My son won’t eat them either so I know first hand that all our smoothies are delicious without! In general, you can substitute more of the other fruit such as blueberries. If I want my smoothies extra sweet I add more pitted dates, raw honey or a little stevia.

  2. I was so excited to make this today, it tasted great but my tummy started growling an hour later. I am hypoglycemic so I am not used to having so much fruit without a protein to balance it. I ended up giving in and making a second smoothie with just almond milk, spirulina & whey protein powder. Any suggestions for tomorrow’s smoothie meal?

    • Feel free to add your whey protein powder to any of our smoothies. I also encourage you to add more nuts and healthy fats like avocado, coconut and flax oils.
