We are so glad that Andrea has shared her go-to smoothie with us! Have you heard of her blog, A Farmer in the Dell? It’s one of our favorite blogs here at barre3. Meet Andrea!
My husband and I are organic vegetable farmers. We wake up with the sunrise and work until the sun sets. This smoothie recipe is our favorite way to fuel for a hard day in the fields. We usually drink our breakfast because we are too tired to “chew” at 5 in the morning. This smoothie is packed with protein and vital nutrients to keep us full and energized for a long day. We think it tastes just like an almond butter and jelly sandwich. Enjoy! – Andrea
Rise and Shine Smoothie
Serves 1
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 ripe banana
1 cup spinach/kale
1 tbs almond butter
1 tbs pure maple syrup (the real stuff here!)
1 tbs flax
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 cup water
PREPARATION:
1. Place all ingredients into a blender and enjoy!

I left out the flax because I didn’t have any in my house but this smoothie was delicious!! The almond butter is so good in this!

Yum do u have any nutritional breakdown on any of these yummy recipes ? I would love to know protein fiber etc. things like calcium and iron are very helpful, but at least a protein fiber fat etc breakdown so I can learn what we r doing here and apply it to making up a long term plan with recipes and foods elsewhere. Thank u!
We don’t currently have a breakdown like that but your interest is noted! I can tell you that our recipes are balanced with protein, fiber, veggies/fruit, and healthy fat.
This is soooo good!!
Yum, yum, yum!!! Love this one! Have to admit that I didn’t have any maple so I used agave. Delish!!
This smoothie is delicious!! It was like a peanut butter and jelly sammy when I was a kid! Too hard to believe its good for you!!
Is there any recommended substitute for bananas? I want to like bananas so very much, but they don’t like me (depending on how much banana, it can upset my stomach – my dad is the same way). Even a way to half the amount of bananas and substitute something for the other half would allow me to enjoy these smoothies all the more! Thank you!
Try adding more blueberries in place of banana. If you want it more sweet you can throw in 4 pitted dates!
