Plain Yogurt with Honey, Blueberries, & Walnuts
You may notice the inclusion of whole milk yogurt in the ingredients below. You read that right. Andrea Nakayama from Replenish PDX has taught us that any dairy products that are not whole are actually processed! Isn’t that interesting? It makes sense when you think about it: You remove part of the natural part of the food and it’s processed (plus there’s chemical processing involved in the removal of the good fat as well)!
Believe it or not, when you eat more whole foods, like whole yogurt, you actually support your body to lose weight. The low-fat or no-fat versions end up having a higher sugar content, and that’s what packs on the pounds!
PLAIN YOGURT WITH HONEY, BLUEBERRIES, & WALNUTS
1 serving
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup whole plain yogurt
Handful of blueberries (fresh or frozen)
2 tablespoons of chopped walnuts
1 teaspoon of raw honey & cinnamon to taste (optional)
PREPARATION:
1. Combine all ingredients above and enjoy!
NOTE: Be sure to use whole plain yogurt like Nancy’s Yogurt (Sadie’s favorite!) because it is higher in nutrients and is less processed than lowfat and nonfat versions. Plus, it’s more satisfying!
If you don’t eat dairy, feel free to substitute a coconut or nut based yogurt. Andrea recommends the brand Amande.
